What building in Dartmouth actually involves
Dartmouth splits into two kinds of work. Downtown and Albro Lake are older homes needing full renovations, rewiring and structural repair. Portland Estates, Russell Lake and Cole Harbour are newer houses where people are adding space or finishing basements.
Secondary and basement suites are the most common request we get on this side of the harbour, and they are also where most owners get caught out. A legal suite needs proper ceiling height, egress windows, fire separation and its own permit — a finished basement is not a suite, and the difference matters when you go to rent or refinance it.
