About us
Builders who put it in writing
Complex Construction Limited has spent 15 years building additions, renovations and new homes across Halifax and the HRM. We are not the cheapest quote you will get, and we are straightforward about why.
Most building disputes start before anyone picks up a tool
They start with a quote that was never specific about what it covered. A vague allowance for tiling, no mention of who pays for the sub-floor rot nobody looked for, a start date that was optimistic rather than planned. By the time the argument happens, the money is already spent.
We built this company around removing that ambiguity. Before we price a job we get under the floor and into the roof space to find out what we are actually dealing with. Then we write down the inclusions, the exclusions and the programme, and we hold the price we gave you.
That approach means we sometimes lose work to a cheaper number. We would rather lose the job than win it on a figure we know will not hold.

How we work
Three commitments we do not negotiate on
Every builder says they communicate well. These are the specific, checkable things we do differently.
One supervisor, start to finish
You get one name and one number for the whole build. The person who walked your site during the estimate is the person on site when the frame goes up, so nothing gets lost in a handover between staff.
Fixed price, written inclusions
Our quotes list what is included and — more importantly — what is not. Variations are priced in writing and approved by you before any work happens. No verbal agreements, no invoice surprises at handover.
We tell you what you cannot afford
If your budget will not stretch to your brief, we say so at the first meeting rather than winning the job and discovering it together in week nine. It costs us some work. It is the only honest way to run a build.
The team
The people who will actually be on your site
Small teams build better. You will deal with these people directly rather than through a call centre.

Director & Licensed Builder
Replace this with your own bio from the admin dashboard. Mention how long you have been building, what you specialize in, and why you started the company. Clients read this section more than any other page on a builder's website.

Site Supervisor
Replace this with your supervisor's details. Naming the person who will actually be on site every day is one of the strongest trust signals a construction website can carry.

Estimator
Estimator & Contracts
Replace this with your estimator's details. Clients want to know that the person pricing their job understands construction, not just spreadsheets.
Credentials
Insured, covered and checkable
Nova Scotia does not license residential builders, so ask every builder you talk to for these three things. Ours can be verified with WCB Nova Scotia and the Registry of Joint Stock Companies before you sign anything.

Client feedback
What it is actually like to build with us
Averaging 4.9 out of 5 across 3 reviews. These are unedited, and we have not cherry-picked the short ones.
We had two other builders quote and both were vague about what happened if they found problems. Complex gave us a line-by-line quote and a written contingency. When they did find rot in the old sill plate, we got a change order with a price the same day. No drama, no arguments.

The thing that stood out was the communication. Every Friday we got photos and a note on what was happening the following week. I never once had to chase anyone for an update, which after our last renovation felt like a luxury.

Eleven months on a sloping lot with bedrock two feet down, and they hit the handover date they gave us at contract signing. Our architect said it was the cleanest site he had worked with in years.
